Notes
Known as Abraham van der Mijl while a minister for many years in the Vlissingen area. Ran into some issues with the church hierarchy, when they refused him the appropriate attestation to continue his appointment following an affair with a woman in his church constituency. From a well known Dordrecht family, last name may have originated from the estate - Heerlijkheid De Mijl - in the Dordrecht area near Rotterdam, where he lived for a period of time.

Poet, humanist and clergyman, also referred to as Milius, Vander-Milius, Van der Mijl, van der Mijle and Van der Myl, and presumably, Mylius. Best known as the author of De lingua Belgica (Leiden, 1612) under the name of "Mijlius", the latinized version of "van der Mijl". This publication included the assertion that Dutch is the oldest language in the world (!), and is evidenced by the fact that it is much easier for a Dutchman to learn other languages. He appeared to have been a significant scholar in linguistic matters of the time, in particular to the origin of the various languages.
