Notes
There is an entry for Roelof Kanitz in Zwolle`s Registry of Births. This was updated 7 years later to Roelof Ree after his mother married Simon Ree in 27-Aug-1835 and he accepted Roelof and 2 other siblings (Janna and Samuel) as his legal children. (This process legitimizes the birth of a child and allows them them to take the family name of their legal father. It does not mean he is in fact the natural father of the child. The more time elapsed between the birth and the legal marriage, the more likely the husband was not the natural father.)
